Matched (Matched #1)Matched by Ally Condie

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I can't even begin to tell you how pleased I was to read a dystopian novel that was lighter, cleaner, yet as engaging as it's counterparts. Matched is as mysterious, intriguing and as hard to put down as The Mazerunner, Hungergames, or Forest of Hands and Teeth. Condie does a fantastic job weaving the seemingly perfect world, with a perfect government, resulting in an 'optimal life' or is? Cassia is finally matched with the perfect match on her 17th Birthday, all that is left is to prepare for their marriage contract at age twenty-one. When she views the informative microcard about her match she is shocked to find the face of two boys listed as her match. Suddenly she is torn in two and discovers not everyone is as perfect as she thoughts, nor does everyone follow the rules as she has always believed. Discovering secrets about her Grandfather, Father, and both of her matches, she begins to wonder if maybe a world where all the decisions are made for you isn't always optimal, even if the result is pain.

A fantastic read!
